These enzymes phosphorylate or dephosphorylate other proteins. By definition, they use ATP (or GTP) as the phosphoryl group donor (as opposed to phosphotransferases of the phosphotranferase system and the phosphorelay).

Protein kinases

Protein serine kinases

Protein tyrosine kinases

  • PtkA
  • EpsB: similar to PtkA, but has probably no kinase activity

Protein kinases of two-component systems

Protein phosphatases

Protein serine phosphatases

Protein tyrosine phosphatases

Protein aspartate phosphatases controlling the phosphorelay
