These transcription factors activate transcription at SigL-dependent promoters. RNA polymerase containing SigL is inactive unless productive interaction with an activator protein occurs. Therefore, SigL-dependent genes are among the most strongly regulated genes in B. subtilis.
Activators controlled by interaction with low molecular weight effectors
- AcoR: control of acetoin utilization (acoA-acoB-acoC-acoL)
- BkdR: control of the utilization of branched chain amino acids
- RocR: control of the utilization of arginine, ornithine and citrulline (rocA-rocB-rocC, rocD-rocE-rocF, rocG)
