RNases are involved in the processing and degradation of the different classes of mRNAs, tRNAs, rRNAs and small RNAs

Exoribonucleases

  • RNase J1: 5'-3' activity, does also have endonuclease activity

Endoribonucleases

  • RNase J1: ssRNA endonuclease, does also have exonuclease activity
  • RNase J2: ssRNA endonuclease, may also have exonuclease activity
